Listed by Golf World in ‘The Best 10 ‘Open Championship’ Qualifying Courses’, and ‘Great Britain & Irelands Best 10 Opening Holes’, and described by Peter Alliss as “a real hidden gem”.
During 2009 Fairhaven will
be hosting 3 prestigious events. In May the
Club staged the Fairhaven Trophies, an
international 72 hole scratch championship
for under 18year olds, which carries EGU &
EWGA order of merit points, as well as World
Amateur Golf Ranking points. The Final
Qualifying Round for the Ricoh Women’s
British Open is to be held at Fairhaven on
Monday 27th July, closely followed by the
LGU Girls Home International Matches,
between the 4th and 6th August.
Future
championships at Fairhaven will include the
annual staging of the Fairhaven Trophies,
the European Men’s Seniors Team
Championship, 29th August – 4th September
2010. Fairhaven have been selected by the
R&A to host their 2012 R&A World Junior
Open, on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
of the Open Championship week, which is
being held at neighbouring Royal Lytham & St
Annes GC.
The course is maintained and presented to the highest standard consistently and its well-draining sandy sub-soil means that perfect playing conditions can be enjoyed throughout the year. It fully lives up to its designation as a Championship course and the Club enjoys entertaining all its visitors, when a warm and friendly welcome is guaranteed.
